Feedback Journey for knowledge workers

Feedback Journey is a feedback tool for people who sell expertise rather than hours of labour. You ask everyone involved in a delivery to score four fixed questions, not just the person who signs the invoice. The result is a comparable picture of how your work lands, and evidence you can show the next client.

Who should you invite to respond?

Invite everyone your delivery touches. Each group sees a different side of your work.

  • The paying customer, who judges the delivery against what was agreed.
  • Other employees at the client, who work alongside you day to day.
  • End users, who live with the result after you have moved on.

Not everyone will answer, and that is normal. The replies you do get still add up to a solid base for reflection. Follow up with the people who answered, ask them to elaborate, and set your improvement goals together with them.

Which survey type should you use?

Feedback Journey has three survey types, one for each way knowledge work is delivered. All three cover your knowledge and expertise, then diverge.

  • Long-term assignments also cover your impact on the working environment.
  • Service deliveries also cover communication and quality.
  • Workshops and courses also cover your presentation and how relevant the content was.

Why are the survey questions fixed?

The questions are fixed so that results can be compared. If everyone answers the same four questions, you can measure improvement across surveys, across years and across people. We spent a long time choosing questions that cover what matters for each type of work while staying quick to answer. A responder should be done in about two minutes.

What do the long-term questions cover?

A long-term survey scores four categories: knowledge, knowledge sharing, social and collaboration. We believe those four cover the essence of the typical consultant role. They will not capture everything you do. They will document how you perform in a real environment and point at the areas worth improving next.
